What are the disadvantages of Botulinum toxin ?

Botulinum toxin injections do not have any particular drawbacks. A few years ago, faces seemed frozen after injections. Today, this undesirable effect does not have to be provided you choose a qualified and experienced aesthetic doctor, with a light hand. A disadvantage of botox is that the treatment must be renewed to maintain the results. On the other hand, this is also an advantage of botox since the effects are not permanent.

When do the results appear  after a Botulinum toxin injection ?

The results appear a few days after the injections. It takes 3 to 5 days for the first results and then the final results in about 2 to 3 weeks. This delay allows to observe if corrections are necessary. In order to maintain the result(s), it is necessary to renew the injections approximately every 6 months.

What is the difference between Botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid ?

Hyaluronic acid and Botulinum toxin are both resorbable products used in aesthetic medicine. However, the objectives are not the same. Injections of hyaluronic acid can fill wrinkles and give volume. It is produced naturally by the human body. Botulinum toxin makes it possible to « relax » the muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles by avoiding facial expressions.

The price of Botulinum toxin injections varies according to the areas to be treated: count from $250 to $350 to treat the forehead (horizontal wrinkles and frown lines between the eyebrows) and add to that from $100 to $200 for wrinkles on the forehead crow’s feet (around the eyes).

It is best to call on a very experienced doctor who is qualified to perform injections. It will have to be done in his office or in his clinic. This is essential to avoid any danger and undesirable effects but also for the quality of the result.
